DAY SUPPORT ASSOCIATE (DSP)

Position Overview:  The Day Support Associate (Direct Support Professional – DSP) is responsible for providing supervision, support and assistance to consumers participating in our Adult Day Services Program. The Day Support Associate ensures the activities offered at the program are consistent with the individual’s preferences, as stated in the ISP.

Position RequirementsPrevious experience with supporting individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required. A High School diploma or GED is preferred. Current valid driver’s license and automobile insurance meeting Ohio’s minimum standards. Ability to maintain CPR and First Aid certification.

ADULT DAY SERVICES SUPERVISOR

Position Overview:  The Adult Day Services Supervisor is responsible for supervision, training and assistance to participants of RMS’ day habilitation program. Services are to be provided within the scope of the individual’s Individual Service Plan (ISP) with the goal of increasing independence and/or improving the quality of life.

The ADS Supervisor’s responsibilities include:

  • Providing services in accordance with the participant’s ISP and company procedures.
  • Ensuring that the health and safety of consumers are maintained through continuous monitoring of the environment.
  • Communicating and working effectively with family members, significant others, guardians, county board personnel and other RMS staff.
  • Ensuring timely and clear oral and written communications of both routine and unusual matters.
  • Providing management and supervision of all staff assigned to adult day services.
  • Creating and delivering staff evaluations and disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Providing input regarding consumer needs/accomplishments to peers, supervisors and team members.
  • Maintaining participant records and other documentation per established procedures.
  • Reviewing and approving timecards for all Support Associates and Lead Support Associates assigned to the ADS.
  • Opening and closing the program during days of operation; Initiating activities in compliance with the ISP.
  • Organizing participant schedules and developing meaningful activities on an on-going basis.
  • Ensuring the timely reporting of all Unusual Incidents (UI) and Major Unusual Incidents (MUI) internally and to the local county board of developmental disabilities.
  • Providing transportation as needed.
  • Monitoring and ensuring routine vehicle maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Providing after hour on-call support for staffing or client emergencies pertaining to the ADS

Position Requirements:  Two years developmental disabilities and supervisory experience. Ability to obtain/maintain CPR and First Aid Certification and to successfully complete all other required training for the position. Ability to work effectively with persons with disabilities. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to follow directions and complete required paperwork. Successful background check. Current valid driver’s license.

In 2020, the Federal Government finalized “Transparency in Coverage” Rule, which requires health insurers and group health plans, including self-funded clients, to provide cost-sharing data to consumers.

Through UnitedHealthcare, UMR and HealthSCOPE Benefits creates and publishes the Machine-Readable Files on behalf of RMS.
