people at tech fair booth

RMS was honored to take part in the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ (MCBDDS) Tech Fair, held on March 25, 2025. The event was dedicated to showcasing how technology can be a powerful tool for promoting more independent living for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Held at the MCBDDS office location in Dayton, this inspiring event brought together providers, families and advocates. The primary goal of the event was to demonstrate how Remote Support services empower individuals to live more confidently and independently.

As an organization deeply committed to helping people thrive in the community of their choice, RMS of Ohio was proud to feature our services and assistive technology. We were happy to demonstrate how this new technology is making a positive impact on people’s lives and transforming the way people receive care.

Our remote support services use a variety of technological tools in order to create two-way, real-time support and communication, which allows trained DSPs to monitor and assist individuals from a secure, centralized location.

Increased Independence

By using technologies like motion sensors, door alerts, and video conferencing (with consent), we provide the support individuals need and specifically when they need it. However, at the same time, we preserve an individual’s privacy and autonomy.

At the tech fair, our team engaged attendees with live demonstrations and real stories about how Remote Support has helped individuals gain more control over their daily lives.

We were thrilled to see such a great turnout and especially grateful to have the local news station Dayton 24/7 Now stop by to film our booth. Their coverage highlighted the event’s mission and captured the energy and innovation happening in the Montgomery County area.

Events like the MCBDDS Tech Fair reinforce why we do what we do. At RMS of Ohio, we believe in meeting people where they are with their skills and abilities. We help them live full, meaningful lives with the help of caring professionals and the right amount of supportive tools and technologies.

A Broader Initiative

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disabilities for organizing such a forward-thinking and inclusive event. We realize that this is part of a larger initiative that is occurring across the United States. We are excited about the future of remote support technology in the developmental disability community. At RMS, we are proud to be part of an initiative that is allowing more people a greater degree of independence.
