Over the past few months, our teams across the state have been busy hosting engaging activities, connecting with local partners and highlighting the incredible talents of the people we serve.
From delicious cheeseburgers to energetic drumming sessions and innovative technology expos, here is a look back at some of the exciting moments that brought our mission to life this fall.
ADS Cookout: National Cheeseburger Day
Celebrating National Cheeseburger Day at our New Opportunities location in Ottawa, OH was nothing short of delicious fun!
This informally called national “holiday” is not an official holiday, but it does appear on the National Day Calendar on September 18. It’s considered a companion to National Hamburger Day, which is celebrated at the end of May in honor of one of America’s favorite foods.
On September 18, our Adult Day Support location in Ottawa joined in the fun of National Cheeseburger Day with a special twist! Two of our talented individuals stepped up as guest chefs for the day, helping create a delicious recipe that everyone enjoyed. The kitchen buzzed with teamwork and laughter as participants mixed, grilled and built their burgers with pride.
Events like these remind us that shared experiences, especially around food, bring people together. The day wasn’t just about cheeseburgers; it was about independence, creativity, and community.
As a reminder, Adult day Support is funded through Medicaid’s Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waivers. Within broad Federal guidelines, States can develop home and community-based services waivers (HCBS Waivers) to meet the needs of people who prefer to get long-term care services and supports in their home or community.
In the state of Ohio, adult day support is under the individual options, level one and self-empowered life funding waivers.
RMS of Ohio: Drumming Activity in Lima
Energy, rhythm and fun at Club RMS which is one of RMS of Ohio’s Adult Day support locations. Recently, our individuals at Club RMS in Lima, OH got moving with Lady Redd’s exciting cardio drumming session!
The room was filled with upbeat music, movement and lots of smiles. It was a day focused on exercise, building strength, and most importantly, having fun together.
At RMS of Ohio, we believe in creating engaging, active, and inclusive experiences that bring people together. Cardio drumming is the perfect blend of fitness and fun, helping participants improve coordination, boost confidence and create positive energy.
Our Adult Day Support programs are designed to promote engagement, self-expression and social connection. All while encouraging physical wellness. We extend a big thank-you to Lady Redd for bringing her amazing energy and enthusiasm to our program and inspiring everyone to keep moving to the beat.
Interactive Tech Expo: Summit & Medina County
Our Remote Support team was honored to participate in this year’s Interactive Tech Expo at the Summit Mall in Fairlawn, OH. This was an incredible event hosted by the Summit and Medina County Boards of Developmental Disabilities.
With over 700 attendees, the Expo offered an inspiring showcase of how assistive technology and remote support services help individuals with developmental disabilities live more independently and stay safely connected to their communities.
Throughout the day, visitors stopped by our booth to learn how RMS Remote Support uses cutting-edge technology to provide real-time assistance and peace of mind. From smart home devices to two-way communication systems, our team demonstrated how technology can enhance everyday living while preserving personal freedom.
The event was filled with vendors, live demonstrations and educational sessions. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to the Summit/Medina DD Committee Members for hosting such an impactful event and recognizing the contributions of providers like RMS.
We are grateful to be part of a community that continues to champion innovation, inclusion and independence for people with developmental disabilities.
