SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

What we believe:

  1. Services must be person-centered and emphasize individual goals and abilities.

  2. All options must be explored until a successful placement is achieved.

  3. Matching the job to the person instead of the person to the job is critical.

  4. Support cannot be time limited and assistance must be provided on an ongoing basis, as needed.

  5. Employer needs must be met.

  6. If the right supports are provided anyone who wants to work can.

  7. Services must be flexible and creative with an emphasis on employer participation and natural supports.

  8. Services cannot be limited to the worksite.

  9. Job settings must be integrated and social interaction and relationships with co-workers a priority.

  10. Individuals have a right to real jobs with all of the attendant responsibilities and benefits.
